Service Description

IV vitamin therapy delivers vitamins and nutrients into the bloodstream through a drip. We use it as part of a process that starts with assessment, not as a routine treatment for everyone. How it works Consultation: We discuss your health history, any symptoms, and your reasons for considering IV therapy. Blood testing: We test for vitamin or nutrient deficiencies, so that any treatment is based on what your results actually show. G6PD testing: We test for glucose-6-phosphate dehydrogenase (G6PD) deficiency before treatment, because people with this deficiency can react badly to some infusions. This is a safety step. Your plan: Based on your results, we recommend a plan. This may be dietary changes, oral supplements, or IV therapy if it is needed. IV therapy is mainly useful for people with a diagnosed deficiency, or who have trouble absorbing nutrients through the gut. The infusion: If IV therapy is recommended, the drip is given in a comfortable setting and usually takes 30 to 60 minutes. What to expect, including risks Risks can include bruising, discomfort or irritation at the drip site, infection, and, less commonly, a reaction to the infusion. Whether IV therapy is suitable depends on your blood tests and health history, and it isn't suitable for everyone. We'll talk through the risks and whether it's appropriate for you at your consultation. This service is provided by Ann Butler (NMW0001454416), Registered Nurse (Division 1), Nurse Practitioner. Book a consultation to discuss whether IV therapy is right for you.
